We’re proud to announce the first-ever isolation of a previously unknown cannabinoid, cannabizetol (CBGD), from Cannabis sativa extracts.
This discovery was only possible through close collaboration between Linnea’s R&D team and researchers at the Università degli Studi di Milano, combining advanced phytochemical analysis with innovative synthetic chemistry.
Why it matters: CBGD was confirmed as a naturally occurring cannabinoid thanks to its isolation in cannabis extract, the structure was confirmed through the synthesis of a precise analytical standard. This new compound shows remarkable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on skin cells, outperforming the previously known dimeric cannabinoid CBDD.
This work not only expands the known cannabinome but also highlights the potential of minor and dimeric cannabinoids as new bioactive molecules with promising dermatological applications.
